Adaion, the data and Artificial Intelligence platform for smart grid Operation and Planning, has just closed its first investment round, reaching the figure of 2.6 million euros. With the closing of this round, the company will accelerate its international expansion plans and implement its "Neural Grids".

The round, led by IPW, an investment firm with extensive experience in the software and cybersecurity industry, and with the participation of Fondo Bolsa Social, a leading social impact fund in Spain, will enable Adaion to develop a smart grid that facilitates greater efficiency and sustainability in the current electricity system.

The problems of the electric grid

With low visibility at low voltage, distributors have difficulty knowing exactly what is happening in their own electric grid. This situation prevents them from dealing in time with congestion problems caused by new energy production and consumption habits, even leading, for example, to the blocking or cancellation of renewable energy projects.

This is why Adaion, whose main objective is to enable distributors to know the state of the electric grid in real time, has developed a solution that integrates data from sensorization and network topology into a unified model, so that it can be processed, cleaned, visualized and enriched in real time.

Much more than a simple evolution of Smart Grids. Neural Grids radically transform the existing infrastructure by providing the electric grid with an intelligent brain. They are advanced systems that use Artificial Intelligence and data technology to constantly learn and adapt, analyzing and responding to energy needs in real time, and preventing problems before they occur. Systems that, coupled with the creation of a digital twin, allow simulations and insight into the capacity of the grid at all times.

The expansion of AI and the electric smart grid

With this injection of 2.6 million euros, Adaion will be able to accelerate its international expansion plans and the implementation of its Neural Grids

In the words of Alfredo Rivela, CEO of the company, "the investment and support from IPW and Fondo de Bolsa Social will allow us to accelerate our vision of a more efficient and sustainable electricity grid."

However, this collaboration goes beyond the contribution of capital. According to Juan Santamaría, General Manager of IPW, the company also brings to the project "a deep knowledge in cybersecurity and a successful track record in accompanying technology companies in their expansion".

For its part, the Bolsa Social Fund joins to collaborate from its focus on social impact. For José Moncada, CEO of Fondo Bolsa Social, "the technology developed by Adaion makes it easier for distributors to manage the implementation of renewable energies, accelerating the decarbonization of our current energy mix and contributing to the fight against climate change".
